Pet Sitting Guidelines and Policies
Walks and visits are 7 days a week and our hours of operation are 7am to 7pm. For an additional fee, you can request an after hours visit that will start between 7pm-8pm. After hours visits are subject to availability and must be booked at least 14 days in advance.
We all want our pets to have all the love and attention they deserve, but please be advised that if there are other persons entering and leaving your home, Dog Bone cannot be held liable for any damages or problems that may arise as a result. Please inform us at the time of the consultation of anyone who may have access to your home while you are away. This includes cleaning services, repair persons, friends, family and neighbors. Dog Bone does not accept liability for other persons who will be in your home during pet care and health services. Additionally, please let us know if you are out of town and nobody that permanently resides in the home will be in town if that overlaps with any services Dog Bone provides. For liability purposes, Dog Bone does not share pet sitting services with other companies or individuals.
Animal behavior can be unpredictable. All dogs will be required to be on leash during outdoor walks. Dog Bone does not accept responsibility or liability for animal behavior, normal or otherwise, which results in injury to the client's animals. Further, if a Dog Bone provider is harmed or injured by the client's animals, the client/owner accepts full responsibility for the cost of any necessary medical attention required by either the Dog Bone Pet Care provider or by the animals.
Dog Bone requires that all pets have the necessary vaccinations and immunizations before service begins. We may ask to see expiration dates for rabies vaccinations. Dog Bone will attempt to administer medications as directed but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result. Under no circumstances will Dog Bone service any pet that has any form of contagious illness. This is for the safety of other customers. Please provide us with any changes regarding your pets' care and other pertinent information.
If your pet(s) become ill while under the care of Dog Bone, and medical care is needed in the best judgment of Dog Bone, Client authorizes Dog Bone to transport the pet(s) to Client s veterinarian (or one who is available). Client authorizes Dog Bone to approve any emergency treatment recommended by said veterinarian when the cost of treatment is within the limits authorized in a Veterinarian Release Form. Client authorizes Dog Bone to take Clients' pet(s) to an Emergency Clinic for Animals when the Clients' veterinarian is not immediately available. Client further agrees to promptly reimburse Dog Bone for any expenses incurred for any medical treatment or emergency care.
Fenced in yards are wonderful playgrounds for our dogs and allow them additional space to exercise and play. However, no fence system is totally secure. Dog Bone does not accept responsibility or liability for any client's animals that escape or become lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to leave the clients animals in a fenced in area. This includes electronic, wood, metal or any other type of fence. We will not permit your dogs to interact with strange dogs. If stray dogs that are off leash approach, we will do our best to keep interaction at a minimum and move away from them.
Dog Bone will properly dispose of all pet waste, and we only use eco-friendly bags. Dog Bone will clean up after your pets to the best of our ability. Please inform us of the designated area for the appropriate cleaning supplies. If there are accidents above and beyond the normal amount anticipated, Dog Bone may charge a reasonable fee for cleanup time.
Please leave the name and number of a trusted maintenance company or a person you can rely on to attend to any household emergencies that may arise during your absence. This includes but is not limited to; leaking pipes, malfunctioning water heaters and heating and air units.
Please leave your thermostat settings within a normal comfortable range (68-78 degrees F). If the house temperature is outside of this range, Dog Bone will attempt to adjust the thermostat. This is to ensure the health and comfort of your pets and us during our time of service.
It is not unusual for trip plans to change at the last minute. However, please understand that we carefully schedule our time to service you and our other clients. Therefore, there are no refunds or credits for last minute changes to pet care. Once pet care begins, payment is due for the original dates scheduled.
Cancellations for dog walks during the week need to be submitted before 5pm the day prior to avoid a cancellation fee. Pet sitting visits and/or weekend services cancelled with less than a 72-hour notice are subject to a cancellation fee. Weekend services start at 3pm on Friday and include all Saturday and Sunday services. Bed and breakfast visits cancelled with less than a 14-day notice are subject to a cancellation fee.
With the exception of uncontrollable emergencies, any cancellations requested prior to a major holiday (i.e. Christmas, New Year's, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, etc.) with less than a 14-day notice may result in 100% of the total invoice for scheduled pet care to be paid. Additionally, in an effort to accommodate all of our client’s needs, 30-minutes are the longest visits available for holidays. We request your understanding that holiday travel is a peak service time for pet care.
There are times throughout the year that our schedule fills up in advance, so we always recommend that you schedule visits as early as possible. Our visits always sit within a two-hour window, but you can request a target arrival time, and we will do our best to accommodate that request. The earlier a visit is requested, the closer we can usually get to your requested target time of arrival.
We also understand that you may need us at the last minute. We will always do our best to accommodate these requests, and they do come with an additional fee.
There is a $25 fee for all returned checks. There is a 10% late charges fee for all late payments. Payments are considered late if not received within fourteen days of receipt of an invoice.
